100% Pure Saffron

Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus". This autumn flowering perennial bulb bears up to four flowers each containing three vivid red crimson stigmas. To produce a single pound of saffron it can take up to 75,000 blossoms.

The vivid crimson stigma and styles, called threads, are collected and dried to be used mainly as a seasoning and colouring agent in food. Saffron has long been the world's most costly spice by weight.

    I used saffron in my Big a Fish Stew. There was so much flavor. I believe it was this particular saffron that made the difference.
