Greek olive oil - thick, rich, delicious. Cold pressed, no added chemicals. Pouring spout is so handy

Posted by R Eye. on 31st Mar 2019

Ellora Farms is a lovely Extra Virgin Olive that is packaged in a nice tin with a plastic pouring spout that is capped and you will need to use the green plastic 'lifter' to pull out the pouring spout from the can. The oil is cold pressed (expeller) so no chemicals (think Hexane for corn kernels to get corn oil) are used to extra the oil from the olives. The taste is great and I am a fan of Greek olive oils as opposed to Italian and Spanish. The tin keeps the oil from light that can cause the oil to become rancid. I use this oil for everything. I rarely actually deep fry anything, just saute or fry eggs (short time, high heat not necessary). I understand that olive oil should be used within a few months after opening, so if you don't cook for an army, smaller containers are the way to go.

The Real Deal Olive Oil: Genuine and Delicious. Highly Reocmmend

Posted by DHY on 29th Mar 2019

After reading "Real Food" (Olmstead), I've tried to find a good source of genuine fresh olive oil, not cut with other oils or rancid. This is it! It's delicious! And the bottles are just right size to finish in six weeks, the recommended time after opening olive oil so it doesn't go rancid. I highly recommend.

Feels like I'm back in the Mediterranean !

I've had olive oils in Italy and in Greece, and this is the closest you'll get to that here in the U.S. You can taste the authentic flavor. Strong and smooth, with no bitterness or aftertaste. I call it liquid gold, not only because it looks like gold and tastes amazing, but because Extra Virgin Olive Oil is probably one of the healthiest foods you can ever consume. This is my new "go-to" olive oil for everything. Dip some Italian bread in this and enjoy!

    A Fine Certified Olive Oil

Posted by Grampy on 25th Mar 2019

It is sad that so much of the olive oil in markets is spurious at best, and authentic growers and purveyors must rely upon certification--as does this wonderful oil from Crete. Many people who rely strictly on higher priced Italian oils don't realize that a large quantity actually comes from Greece. I have eight different oils from Spain, Italy, California, and Greece in my larder right now, and Ellora Farms olive oil is one that I will assuredly buy again. Note as well that it is a fragrant oil with a nice bite to it, which should come as a surprise to folks who may be used to bland supermarket fare.

    Tastes Strong-Just like I like it !

    Posted by Avery C Freeman-Wheaton on 25th Mar 2019

This is really good olive oil! I'm on my second order of a two-liter pack. I drizzle tons of it on lettuce and tomato (we have a garden) and it's just amazing. It wouldn't be hyperbole to call it the best olive oil I've ever had, as far as I can remember. It's a little on the spicy side (the first taste always has the most kick) but I've read that it means it has a higher polyphenol content. One of the reasons I'm eating so much olive oil is for its purported health benefits. I can't say I've noticed anything outright, but good nutrition is something the results of which are seen over years or decades, not days. Also, despite being an oil (and thus, high in calories) I don't really seem to be gaining any weight from it, but I eat mainly a low-carb diet anyway. If a strong-tasting olive oil is what you're after, this could be it.
